El Yunque Rainforest — Puerto Rico

Deep within the mountains of Puerto Rico lies El Yunque, a rainforest protected for centuries and home to one of the most vibrant ecosystems in the Caribbean.

These photographs were taken by Raul Garcia with a 45-megapixel Nikon D850, capturing the forest’s intricate textures—leaves, roots, rivers, moss, and light.

Between 2013 and 2020, many regions of El Yunque National Forest were explored repeatedly in search of these hidden scenes. The images come from demanding journeys through dense vegetation, often far from established trails and under constant rain, mud, and challenging terrain.
