Note: Most prints have dates taken - these are historical prints of the forest before Hurricane Maria in 2017.

In the 1960's a huge landslide destroyed the road across El Yunque - the PR 191 starting in PR 3 near Palmer. They tried but it was impossible to repair. 

Here we document a portion of this road.

Thus, fortunately for the forest, the road did not work as a connection to the Humacao/Caguas region and thus the traffic across PR 191 was far less, and now it has traffic but it is all from visitors, employees or workers.

A gate was placed next to the El Yunque road to the peak and Mt Britton trail and this marked where the PR 191 was closed to the public - we mean cars, we can walk there to the end - the landslide which is now forest and mud.

 The other side of PR 191 is also accessible via Naguabo - there is a PR 191 there and it goes all the way to the Rio Sabana Park and the end of the road is the landslide (right side at the end) - it has several obstacles - like huge fallen trees...

The center image - visible from this road - is the East Peak with the AFRWR obsolete radar dome on the top.

We see the gate closing the road, the PR 191 sign and a sign that says 'wrong way' to precisely this road.

We see samples of Yagrumo leaves on the ground, a small tree growing inside a dead broken palm etc.
